Testimonials for The Art of Regenerative Educatorship

“Anyone who picks up this book expecting a how-to guide to regenerating higher education will be disappointed – which is a good thing, since following someone else’s how-to or best practices list is the fastest way to extinguish the inner spirit that sources and sustains any truly regenerative path. Instead, the authors offer readers both an exploration and a manifestation of what they call “regenerative educatorship”— being in service to growing educators and education “that is designed from a position of deep care for the planet and all life in it.” Perhaps most importantly, they point out that this is not and cannot be a mythic hero’s journey. Rather, it is and must be “a journey of collective inquiry and purpose-focused community building.” At a time when global division and othering are on the upswing, the role of educators and an education that remind us of our deep interdependence and of the unique gift each person can contribute if nurtured is vitally important.”

– Pamela Mang, Co-founder and Education Program Manager of the Regenesis Institute for Regenerative Practice, Co-Author of Regenerative Design and Development.

“What is education for? In these turbulent times where crises abound and humanity appears not to be able to rise to the occasion, my mind keeps asking what is the role of education in this and how might we do education differently? This book is a beautiful tribute to how we can think differently about educatorship and how we can get closer to the essence of tuition. For the knowledge transfer focus of modern Western schooling does not prepare students for the turmoil of a disintegrating world. Because knowledge does not equal understanding and the knowledge transfer approach does not enable creative and courageous agency, a capability we now need more than ever. With this book, Mieke, Bas, and Koen take a bold step in reimagining the role of educators and they share helpful frameworks that can help you think differently too.”

- Dr. Leen Gorissen, Innovation Biologist and Author

"This book is a timely provocation to all of us to consider being a regenerative educator as an important role that we can develop as an art form. Since regeneration is inherently developmental from the cellular to the ecosystemic to human learning, we all can become better regenerative educators for each other as we continue to live the questions together. The book's dialogical format shows that regenerative learning happens in the relationality between learner and educator and our capacity to constantly switch these roles."
