About this Offering

Do you feel called to co-explore the intergenerational question: How to co-evolve human learning for regenerative worlds? Step into an existing, global developmental community of practitioners in the broad field of regenerative education. Together we explore what it means for education to contribute to the mutual flourishing of people, place and planet. We spot and nourish potential for regenerative change in our educational practices and systems, and we support one another in developing our unique value adding roles and capabilities. The developmental community is facilitated by SRE faculty Mieke Lopes Cardozo, Bas van den Berg and Koen Wessels and centers around the following activities:

  1. Monthly online gatherings. Each last Thursday of the month from 3-5 pm Central European Time (CET) the community gathers online (see exact dates in the overview below). Through active engagement with regenerative frameworks, embodied and reflective exercises, and resourcing each other (often in small break-out groups), we build shared consciousness, develop core capabilities, and open pathways to vitalize and evolve our work in the world.

  2. Reflective exercises and online community. In between gatherings, we engage with reflective exercises designed to support and deepen our ongoing commitments and projects. We also work with an online community platform connected to SRE's website where we can all upload insights that emerge along the way and engage with each other.

The online gatherings for this first semester of 2026 are scheduled on the following Thursdays from 15:00-17:00 Central European Time (equals 09:00-11:00 EST):

  • January 29th, 2026

  • February, 19th, 2026

  • March 26th, 2026

  • May 28th, 2026

  • June 25th, 2026

Seasonal Theme: A Deep Dive in Inner Work

The developmental community started in September 2025 with an opening season focused on 'Openings for Regeneration'. With +-25 practitioners from around the globe, we practiced the core capability of deeply connecting with our places in order to start sensing openings for regenerative change processes to take form. And, in doing so, to start creating lively images of the long-term potential of our nested systems, communities and ourselves. In 2026 we will continue our developmental journey. To do so, we will carefully create a process for newcomers in the community to 'join us where we are'. Together, we will dive deeper into the inner work we need to do in order to be regenerative change agents in our communities/systems and selves.

The core premise we will work with, is that to actualize regenerative potential on a systems/community level, we need to actively work on, and uplift, our own states of being, thinking, and relating. To explore this premise together, we will work with questions like:

  • (How) can I truly sense what my potential unique contribution to my community/system entails? / What is my place truly asking of me to actualize?

  • (How) can I discern more carefully what I need to say yes to and what I need to say no to, so that my essence can become more fully aligned with the evolution and essence of the place/communities/systems I deeply care about/am part of?

  • (How) can I be and stay (more) fully present with what wants to evolve in my selves, communities and systems, however confronting or painful this might be at times? / How do I responsibly care for the bigger systems, communities and myself in the midst of change?

  • (How) can I (continue to) act from a place of love, even as I might experience deep feelings of anger, disappointment, or frustration, and even when doing so requires tremendous courage?

  • (How) can I be determined and ‘imperturbable’ in my commitments and simultaneously nourish a questioning-mind, be(come) radically humble and stay open to (co-)evolve?

  • (How) can I hold communal spaces for ‘inner work’ with(in) my systems/communities, and how can I show up as a resource to others?

  • As I (continue to) commit to the inner work that’s part of regenerative change, can I observe shifts in the systemic effect(iveness) of my doings and not-doings?

Is the Developmental Community something for me?

The developmental community welcomes educational practitioners from diverse geographical and educational contexts - ranging from early childhood to adult education, and from formal settings like schools and universities to informal learning environments such as museums or community programs. We also welcome people in diverse roles, such as teachers, team leaders, curriculum developers, managers, organizers, teacher trainers, coaches, spiritual mentors and researchers. The primary language of the community is English. However, as the School is based in the Netherlands and its faculty is proficient in Dutch and Spanish, participants who prefer to speak in those languages will be accommodated whenever possible. By joining the SRE Developmental Community, you'll become a member of a resourced community of pioneers working in the broad field of regenerative education and learning.

If the following applies to you, it is likely that the Developmental Community is something for you:

  • I intuitively feel or aim to further explore a deep sense of caring for the role of educational/learning spaces in today’s and tomorrow's world(s) and develop my ‘promise beyond current ableness’.

  • I see potential for more meaningful and regenerative ways of learning and relating in my life and work communities, I have started integrating (some of) these in my (educational) systems and communities, and I feel called to take a next step.

  • I am seeking the support and inspiration of a developmental collective learning space, and I am simultaneously ready to commit to contributing to a collective developmental learning process for all.

  • I am willing to commit to approximately 3-5 hours of work per month outside of the live sessions for engaging with the reflective exercises and online platform

  • I am willing to experiment and integrate insights and newly developed capabilities in my projects/communities and engage with an ongoing committed process of self-, peer- and systemic inquiry.
